A suspected drunk driver caused a rollover crash on I-35W in Fort Worth, leaving two people injured. Claudia Luna shared a video of the accident from the hospital, where she was treated for a serious head injury. She was left unconscious in the flipped SUV, while a second person in the vehicle remains in critical condition.
Fort Worth police say 34-year-old Gustavo Diaz was drunk when he struck the SUV from behind on Sunday morning, just before 1:30 a.m., while going southbound on I-35W, just past I-20 near Altamesa Boulevard. Investigators say Diaz tried to run after the collision but was caught quickly thanks to witness descriptions.
Luna was released from the hospital with an open wound on her head and bruises on her body and is now recovering with family. Diaz is facing two counts of intoxication, assault and collision involving serious bodily injury, as this is his second arrest by Fort Worth police in a week. He was previously arrested for DWI on October 18th.
The second passenger in the flipped SUV is still in critical condition at the hospital with a broken leg, and there are no updates on their condition.
