Jay-Z will perform at the halftime show for Super Bowl LXI. The National Football League, Apple Music, and the artist announced the selection on Monday. The game is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. This performance will mark the first time the rapper has appeared in the Super Bowl halftime slot.

The announcement coincided with the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z's debut album, Reasonable Doubt. He is currently on the Jay-Z 30 tour to celebrate that milestone and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. The tour began with three nights at Yankee Stadium in July. It included two shows in London and one in Paris in September. His final scheduled concerts for the tour are on October 23 and 24 at SoFi Stadium.

Jay-Z addressed the news in a written statement. He described the path from his early work to the Super Bowl stage as a journey. "From 'Reasonable Doubt' to standing on the stage of the Super Bowl halftime show, it has been a journey," he said. He noted that the performance represents 30 years of music, work, and culture. He called the opportunity a dream come true.

Roc Nation, Jay-Z's company, produces the halftime show. The firm has held this contract since 2019. It recently signed a five-year extension to continue the role through 2029. Since taking over production, the shows have featured hip-hop and rap artists more frequently. The 2026 halftime show at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, featured Bad Bunny. Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin appeared as special guests.

The last Super Bowl halftime show held in Los Angeles was in 2022. That performance featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak also appeared. Other recent performers include Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2025, Usher in 2024, and Rihanna in 2023. Jay-Z has won 25 Grammy Awards throughout his career.

Apple Music posted a short video on social media to confirm the booking. The clip included the text "GOAT's out of the bag." The post used the hashtags #AppleMusicHalftime and #SBLXI. The NFL typically announces the halftime performer during a regular-season game. The Cowboys played the Eagles in the Monday night matchup where the news was released.
