Nebraska fans will see a ghostly crowd at Memorial Stadium this Friday.

The Huskers host the Washington Huskies in the first Halloween game played in Lincoln since 1998. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. Nebraska Athletics has outlined specific guidelines for attendees who plan to dress up for the occasion.

Fans are permitted to wear costumes inside the stadium, though the athletic department encourages supporters to wear black. However, costume props that resemble weapons are banned. This includes toy guns, swords, and knives. Staff will check items at entry to ensure no weapon-like objects enter the stands.

Alcohol rules apply to fans wearing masks. Those purchasing drinks at Cornhusker Kickoff, the Modelo activation on East Plaza, or inside Memorial Stadium must remove face coverings. Nebraska Athletics stated that fans wearing face paint that prevents proper identification will be denied service.

Families can visit Cornhusker Kickoff in the Hawks Center for Halloween Candy. Doors open at 3 p.m. for that event. Standard stadium policies remain in force for the football game. This includes clear bag requirements and restrictions on outside food and beverages.

The matchup marks a return to a tradition that has been absent from the Lincoln schedule for nearly three decades.
