Gov. Greg Abbott raised $26 million between Sept. 25 and Oct. 24, the largest sum his campaign has posted in any single reporting period this cycle. Democrat Gina Hinojosa, the Austin lawmaker challenging him, brought in $17.5 million over the same stretch, also her top period total. Both figures appeared in campaign finance reports that were due Monday.
Abbott's haul arrives after months of lopsided spending. From the start of Hinojosa's campaign on Oct. 15, 2025 through Oct. 24, Abbott has spent $281 million compared with her $36.8 million, filings show. Over the past month alone, his campaign spent $35.8 million, a rate above $1 million a day. Hinojosa spent $19.1 million during that window.
Nearly a fifth of Abbott's September-to-October fundraising came from Elon Musk. Other large donors in the period included Nike co-founder Phil Knight at $2.5 million, investment manager Kenneth Fisher at $2 million, and the Republican Governors Association at $3 million. Miriam Adelson, Anthony Wood, John Nau and Lee Bass each gave $500,000. Tom Brown, co-founder of Anthropic, gave $300,000, and Anthropic's employee-funded PAC added $200,000.
Hinojosa's top contributors over the four weeks included Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and the Democratic Governors Association, chaired by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear. Each gave $1 million. The Senate Democrats' campaign arm paid just under $1.5 million for canvassing and campaign materials.
Abbott raised $8.8 million over the same period in his 2022 race against Beto O'Rourke, whom he defeated by more than 11 percentage points. His spending this cycle has already passed his total for that campaign, which came to $131 million.
Hinojosa ran for much of the campaign on a limited budget, overshadowed by the Senate contest between Ken Paxton and James Talarico. Polls in recent weeks have shown her competitive with Abbott, who is seeking a fourth term.
Abbott's spending has gone largely to television ads. Hinojosa has used social media influencers alongside a smaller paid advertising effort.
The reports filed Monday are the last scheduled filings before Election Day. Candidates must still file daily disclosures covering donations received in the final week.
