Milwaukee Brewers players celebrated on the field at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Wednesday night after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 to win the World Series. It is the first championship for the franchise, which began as the Seattle Pilots in 1969 and moved to Milwaukee in 1970.

Captain Christian Yelich addressed the thousands of fans in attendance, noting the long wait for a title. "It’s the best feeling ever. All of our fans are here. I know the city’s waited a long, long time for this," Yelich said. "We’re so happy to bring it home to them. I can’t wait to get back there and celebrate."

Right-hander Jacob Misiorowski led the pitching staff with 5 2/3 scoreless innings. The 24-year-old two-time All-Star threw 86 pitches, 58 of them for strikes. He recorded two strikeouts and allowed two hits before leaving the game due to a right calf cramp. Misiorowski had previously broken the World Series velocity record with a 103.5 mph fastball on the first pitch of the Series.

Offense came from a team that prioritized contact power. Rookie Cooper Pratt, who debuted in June, set a Series rookie record with six consecutive hits before hitting a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. William Contreras, named World Series MVP, drove in two runs with a double and an RBI single. Jackson Chourio set a five-game Series record with 11 hits.

Manager Pat Murphy, 67, guided the team to the title. He survived a heart attack in 2020 and won the NL Manager of the Year award in 2024 and 2025. Murphy praised the group's unity. "This group of guys right here, the 2026 team, will be remembered forever," Murphy said. "They’re not worried about their own stats. No one cares about that. They care about coming together and winning tonight."

The victory caps a season in which the Brewers led the majors with 103 wins and posted an 11-2 record in the postseason. They scored runs on only 32.1% of their home runs, a major league low. The team rebounded from a 4-3 extra-inning loss in Game 4, where they were three outs away from elimination in the 12th inning.

Principal owner Mark Attanasio took the postgame stage to address the crowd. "Milwaukee has waited 44 years, and Milwaukee, you have your world championship," he said. The Rays, an expansion team that debuted in 1998, fell to 0-3 in World Series history. The series concluded before a likely management lockout scheduled to begin Dec. 2, which could threaten the 2027 season.
