Tal Alexander, 40, and his twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander, 39, each received 30-year prison sentences on Tuesday. U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni handed down the terms in federal court in New York for a sex-trafficking scheme that prosecutors said spanned two decades.
The brothers had built careers in luxury real estate and private security before their arrests in 2024. Tal and Oren Alexander rose through the ranks at Douglas Elliman, where they brokered major deals. Their 2019 sale of a penthouse for nearly $240 million stood as the most expensive residential sale in U.S. history at the time. The pair co-founded the luxury real estate firm Official in 2022. Alon Alexander worked as an executive at the family's private security company and did not work in real estate.
A federal jury convicted all three brothers in March. The verdict included charges of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, inducement to travel to engage in unlawful sexual activity, and multiple counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. Prosecutors alleged in court filings that the men raped or sexually assaulted at least 70 women. They described the group as serial rapists who used the promise of luxury experiences, travel, and accommodations to lure victims.
During the four-week trial, 11 women testified against the brothers. Several accusers said they were minors during the encounters. The women described receiving gifts and being flown to parties and other destinations. They stated that the brothers gave them drugs before the assaults. Prosecutor Andrew Jones told jurors that the defendants cultivated the image of wealthy party boys while preying on women. He stated that they used a consistent playbook to lure, isolate, and rape their victims with callousness and a perverse sense of pride.
Prosecutors had asked Judge Caproni to sentence each brother to life in prison. Defense attorneys sought the 15-year minimum for all three. The brothers maintained their innocence throughout the trial. Their lawyers argued that the encounters were consensual and accused prosecutors of overreach.
Eleven accusers addressed the court before sentencing. They described how the assaults continued to affect their lives years later. Lindsey Acree testified that Tal Alexander and another man raped her at a Hamptons home in 2011. She said she drank something that left her feeling paralyzed. Acree asked the court why the brothers inflicted such harm on women. She expressed confusion over the cruelty and hatred toward women that she observed.
The three brothers spoke to the court before Judge Caproni delivered the sentences. They continued to deny drugging or raping women. Oren Alexander said he was not there to discount what the accusers had said. He expressed regret for some of his past behavior toward women but insisted that he and his brothers had not committed the crimes for which they were convicted. He stated that the group had never drugged or raped anyone and never trafficked anyone for sex.
All three brothers had remained in custody without bail since their arrests in 2024. U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton described their conduct after the March verdict as calculated, brutal sexual abuse that the defendants celebrated.
