Election Day is less than two days away.
Sen. Pete Ricketts and challenger Lynne Walz held separate final rallies in the Omaha metro on Sunday night.
Ricketts spoke to a crowd of fellow Republican candidates in Elkhorn. He said he has worked for Nebraska residents for 12 years. He called for a long-term fix to high fuel costs. Ricketts argued that the country needs more domestic refining capacity to lower prices for gasoline and diesel.
Walz campaigned in downtown Omaha with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear. She told voters they are ready for change. Walz highlighted housing costs, property taxes, and economic development as main concerns for local families.
Both candidates focused on the rising cost of living. Gas and grocery prices were central themes in their speeches.
Republicans at the Elkhorn event also pushed back on two state ballot initiatives. Measures 440 and 441 would create a framework for legalizing and regulating online sports betting in Nebraska. The vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3, will determine if these measures pass.
