Sun Valley, a neighborhood in Denver that has long been associated with economic challenges, is undergoing a major transformation. On Friday, Eats on the Platte opened its doors at 2500 W. 10th Ave. The 8,000-square-foot food hall marks the latest addition to a long-term investment plan for the area, which is historically known as The Bottoms.

The new venue launched with five local food vendors. These include Wings Social Co., Jama Miami Cuban, Jalapeño Business, La Brewjula Café, and Corazón de Tita. The developers expect additional vendors to join the lineup in 2027. This expansion is part of a broader effort by the Denver Housing Authority to revitalize the district, which currently has 94% of residents living in subsidized housing and more than 80% living below the poverty line.

The redevelopment initiative includes new housing, improved connections between streets and parks, and better access to community amenities. Kent Wimbush, senior development manager at the Denver Housing Authority, explained that building housing is only one component of a strong neighborhood. He stated that the organization must also focus on businesses and opportunities that help the community thrive.

Eats on the Platte is operated in partnership with Kitchen Network, Denver's largest and longest-running commissary kitchen. This facility supports approximately 100 specialty food businesses annually. Through this arrangement, the food hall vendors gain access to professional kitchen infrastructure, operational resources, and business support. Erin Clark, chief real estate investment officer at the Denver Housing Authority, described the space as a place for neighbors to connect and for small businesses to grow.

The food hall is located near the site of a new 11-acre Riverfront Park along the South Platte River. Construction on the first phase of the park began on October 21. The park is expected to open to the public in late 2027. Wimbush noted that Eats on the Platte brings the vision for the neighborhood to life by providing a space where local entrepreneurs can grow their businesses and residents can gather.

The venue is open to the public seven days a week. Hours run from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the food hall extends its hours to 11 p.m. The opening provides a new gathering place for Sun Valley residents and visitors from across Denver.
