More than 17 days of dry weather across the Baltimore metro will end Wednesday night. Scattered showers are set to break the streak, bringing wet conditions to the region before a breezy weekend arrives. Forecasters expect the rain to be light but sufficient to slick roads and sidewalks during the Thursday morning rush hour.
The current warm spell will hold until late Wednesday. Early morning patchy fog is expected to burn off before 10 a.m. Residents should enjoy mostly sunny skies with unseasonably warm temperatures reaching the middle to upper 70s. Clouds will thicken in the evening, leading to showers that begin overnight. Lows will remain mild for early November, hovering in the lower 60s.
The heaviest chance for precipitation falls between midnight and the Thursday morning commute. The first batch of showers is expected to exit around midday. Thursday afternoon will turn breezy and warm again, with highs in the mid-70s. An additional spotty shower is possible Thursday afternoon and evening, though coverage will be sparse. Many neighborhoods may stay completely dry.
Sports fans attending the Ravens game Thursday evening should prepare for mostly dry conditions. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. against the Jaguars at M&T Bank Stadium. Temperatures will be mild. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible, but odds favor a dry game. If weather does impact the event, it likely will not last long. Packing a poncho is a sensible precaution.
Friday morning will start rainy and damp. The back edge of the rain should clear the Baltimore metro before 9 a.m. Eastern Shore areas will see more widespread rain that lasts until before lunchtime. Most areas will receive less than 0.50 inches of rain. The exception is the Eastern Shore, which will see more beneficial rainfall. A passing evening shower is possible Friday with the passage of a cold front, but it will be hit or miss and short-lived.
The upcoming weekend will be dry and seasonably mild. Temperatures will mirror last weekend in the 60s. Winds will blow from the west-northwest at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching 30 mph. This breeze will create a cooler feel. A sweatshirt or hoodie is recommended for both days. Bright sunshine will persist, making it an ideal time to view peak fall color across central and eastern Maryland. By next weekend, peak color will likely have passed.
Gusty winds will continue Monday along with bright sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Winds will ease slightly on Tuesday, allowing temperatures to rise into the middle to upper 60s. The Tuesday outlook includes a mixture of sunshine and clouds.
