More than 60% of Missouri voters cast ballots against Proposition A, officially ending the attempt to adopt the 2025 congressional map. Unofficial Associated Press results confirmed the rejection on November 4, meaning the state will retain its current district boundaries for upcoming congressional elections.

The defeated measure sought to replace the 2022 map with a new version drawn mid-decade. Republicans championed the change to secure additional seats. The proposal significantly altered the 5th Congressional District by extending it from Kansas City to Jefferson City. Under the rejected plan, parts of Gladstone and Clay County would have shifted from the 5th to the 6th District.

Voters also approved Amendment 6 by a 60% margin. This amendment adds safeguards to the initiative petition process. It allows residents to continue gathering signatures to place proposed laws on the ballot. Any future changes to this process would require a supermajority of 80% in both the Missouri House and Senate before being referred to the public.

Richard Von-Glahn, executive director of People Not Politicians, addressed the outcome after the vote. "I feel relieved, we have known this from the beginning when Missourians told the governor, told the legislature not to do this. They didn't listen, they listened to DC not the people of the state, so the people of the state just sent them a very clear defeat," Von-Glahn said.

The current district lines will remain in effect as the state prepares for the next cycle of congressional races. No further action is scheduled for the rejected map.
