The Morrison County Sheriff's Office raised the reward for information on a 2016 homicide from $30,000 to $50,000 on Saturday. The increase marks the ten-year anniversary of the death of Terrence "Terry" Brisk, who was found shot with his own rifle while deer hunting on his parents' property in Minnesota.
Brisk was 43 years old at the time of his death. His son discovered the body. Sheriff Shawn Larsen, who responded to the scene a decade ago, stated that Brisk was wearing hunting gear but the rifle was missing. Investigators located the gun the following spring.
In a statement, Brisk's family said they have lived with heartbreak for ten years without knowing the truth. They pleaded with anyone who has information, particularly the responsible person, to come forward. The family noted that Brisk loved and was loved and deserved to have his story told.
Larsen said the department is re-testing evidence because new tools and more accurate tests became available in the early 2020s. These resources were not present during the original investigation. In 2023, Larsen told WCCO that the re-examination is more extensive than the initial work.
Investigators previously searched for a blue van or minivan that was in the area on the day of the shooting. The sheriff's office asked members of the public to call 320-632-9233 with any details that could help solve the case.
