Omaha experienced its warmest October in four years, logging an average temperature of 62.3 degrees. This figure places the month in fourth place among the warmest Octobers recorded in the metro area's history.
The local weather service noted that October 2026 marks the fourth year in a row where monthly temperatures exceeded the previous year's average. The last three Ooctobers, including the current one, all fall within the top 15 warmest months on record.
Extreme heat characterized the month, with Omaha recording four consecutive days reaching 90 degrees or higher. No previous October in recorded history has seen four straight 90-degree days. One of those hot days tied for the seventh latest 90-degree day ever observed in the region.
This warmth extended beyond city limits. The entire Midwest region ran warmer than normal throughout October, indicating a broader regional weather pattern rather than an isolated local event.
Meteorologists project that the warming trend will persist into November. Forecasts indicate the coming month will also be warmer than average, suggesting residents should not expect a sharp drop to typical fall temperatures in the immediate future.
